I love to read! When I was growing up, I was taught that books were important. My mother would read stories to my brother and I at night. And as I learned to read, I was encouraged to read more.
I was taught to always carry a book with me so that I would never be bored. And I took that advice to heart. For me, that meant carrying around paperback books. It made me look and feel like a nerd, and that was okay.
As an adult, I continued that practice. When e-books started to take off, I latched onto them quickly. I carried e-books in my first Texas instruments organizer. I had e-books on my handspring visors. When the iPod came out, I carried ebooks around on it.
And on both my Android phones and my iPhone (when I had one for work) I had ebooks. The good thing with ebooks is I can carry a library with me wherever I go. I typically read in the Kindle app at lunchtime and I read on a Kindle at night before I go to sleep.
I love fiction books. Mysteries and science fiction are what I drift to usually. But I’ve come to love self-help books and some memoirs. As I read, I learn. And later, when I’m talking to people, I can tell them about things that I never did, but I read about them.
It spurs a lot of conversations and a lot of different thinking. The good part about reading is it’s kind of hard to stop somebody from reading. There are cries of censorship and blocking people all the time, but I’ve never been stopped reading.
If you want to become unstoppable I encourage you to read more. Instead of just scrolling mindlessly through social media, install one of the reader apps and read a book. It’ll do your mind good and it’ll help make you unstoppable!
